EMC Motorsport Project Porsche 968

Project Porsche 968

For 2007 EMC wanted to develop their range of 968 race parts so it was decided to run in class 1 of the Porsche club championship. EMC already had a 968 Club sport so set about building it. There was only one problem at this point and that was that this decision was made 2 weeks before the first race of the year at Oulton Park!

Working like trojans ensured the car arrived at Oulton ready to go, albeit without our new LSD and flywheel as these still weren't ready yet. For the first few races Alex was getting to grips with the car and moved up the field from 7th at Oulton park to 3rd at the Silverstone round.

For the 4th round at Spa-francorchamps in May all the new parts were fitted and the car was storming, Alex qualifying 3rd despite not testing the car. A small gremlin appeared in the form of a leaky engine mount stopping Alex getting 2nd gear and making the car sluggish out of the 2 hairpins. Despite this Alex got a 2nd and a 4th and a fastest lap.

For the Silverstone classic the new 2 way gas suspension kit was fitted and Alex put the car on pole, in the race despite making a better start the 964 of James Neal couldn't hold off the 968 and Alex took the cars maiden win. In the second race James got the jump at the start again and managed to hold Alex off for a well deserved win. The 968 was fantastic, quick, easy to drive and awesome under braking and at Castle Coombe for the 968's last race of 2007 a close fought 3 way battle for the lead got a resounding cheer from the crowd and netted a 2nd and a 3rd.

At this race we had now fitted and tested all our race equipment for the 968 and felt it was proven enough to sell to our customers. Since then the LSD, single mass flywheel and 2 way gas suspension have gone on to be very popular with fantastic feedback from our customers showing once again that EMC's thorough race testing of parts gives customers the reliability and performance they need and providing the knowledge and experience to allow them to use it.
